Help Rainbow Trust Children's Charity support families in our North East Care team which covers Tyne & Wear, County Durham, Teesside, Redcar, Cleveland and Northumberland.
Rainbow Trust supports families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness. When a child has a serious illness, family life is turned upside down and time becomes more precious than ever.
Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed.
Luke, 13, from Barnard Castle, near Durham, was diagnosed with cancer last year and has spoken about the ‘very, very big difference’ Rainbow Trust has made.
Family Support Worker Monica began supporting the family in May 2024, providing his grandma Lindsey with respite and helping Luke with his social development, isolation and anxiety.
